Applications are now open for the COP31 Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) Reporting Fellowship 2026, a fully funded opportunity for journalists from low- and middle-income countries to report from the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) in Antalya, Türkiye.
The fellowship is organized by the Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security. Selected journalists will travel to Türkiye in November 2026 to cover one of the world’s most important climate policy events and produce stories for audiences in their home countries.

The Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) was launched in 2007 to support journalists covering international climate negotiations. Over the past 19 years, the program has helped more than 550 journalists attend and report from UN climate conferences.
The 2026 fellowship will support journalists attending COP31, which is scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, from November 9 to November 20, 2026.
The program aims to strengthen climate journalism by providing reporters with direct access to climate negotiations, policymakers, scientists, and experts involved in global climate discussions.

Who Can Apply?
The fellowship is open to professional journalists working in print, online, television, radio, and multimedia reporting.
Applicants must:
- Be from an eligible low- or middle-income country
- Represent an established media organization
- Have experience reporting on climate change or environmental issues
- Have never attended a UNFCCC Climate COP in person
- Be available to attend the full COP31 conference in Türkiye
- Demonstrate strong English-language skills
- Submit a current CV or resume
- Provide a letter of support from an editor or media outlet
- Submit a short video explaining their planned COP31 coverage
- Share at least three climate-related journalism samples published between May 2025 and June 2026
Freelance journalists may also apply if they provide a signed commitment from a media outlet agreeing to publish their reporting from COP31.

Applications will be assessed based on several factors, including:
- Previous climate and environmental reporting experience
- A clear reporting plan for COP31
- Strong story ideas relevant to audiences in the applicant’s country
- Commitment from a media organization to publish fellowship reporting
- Ability to produce multiple stories during the conference
Organizers will also consider geographic diversity and media representation when selecting the final fellowship cohort.

Selected applicants are expected to be notified in early September 2026.
