Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) is pleased to announce that the applications for the fully funded OIST Japan Internship 2026 are now open. It’s a 3–6 month internship. You will have the opportunity to work, research, and learn from top scientists. 

The internship begins on October 1 and concludes on March 31, 2027. Students from anywhere can apply. All your major costs are covered — flights, accommodation, a daily allowance, plus money for getting around.

OIST especially welcomes students who are considering pursuing a PhD in the future. Applicants in their final two years of a bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a master’s degree can apply for the OIST internship.

Eligibility Criteria for OIST Japan Internship Program 2026:

• Students from any country are eligible to apply
• No English test (like IELTS or TOEFL) needed
• You should be in the last 2 years of your bachelor’s, OR doing a master’s, OR already done with your bachelor’s or master’s
• Your field should be related to STEM
• If you’re still a student, get permission from your university
• PhD students (current or graduated) can’t apply
• All your documents should be in English
