The University of Strathclyde has opened applications for the Stephen Young Global Leaders’ Scholarship Programme 2026, a fully funded postgraduate opportunity for students pursuing eligible MBA and MSc degrees in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship is funded through a £50 million donation from the Charles Huang Foundation and supports future business leaders studying at Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow. Applications are open until 31 May 2026.

The Stephen Young Global Leaders’ Scholarship Programme, also known as SYGL, was established to honour Professor Stephen Young, a former Head of Marketing at Strathclyde and mentor to businessman Dr Charles Huang.
The programme aims to support academically outstanding students who demonstrate leadership potential and plan to contribute to responsible business and society through global management education.
Selected students will study full-time in Glasgow for one academic year beginning in September 2026.

Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship covers major study expenses for selected students, including:
- Full MBA or MSc tuition fees
- Living cost stipend for the academic year
- Leadership mentoring from senior executives and CEOs
- Access to the Stephen Young Institute for International Business community
- Additional leadership development opportunities
Depending on programme availability and performance, scholars may also access:
- International summer school placements
- Special research projects
- International MBA elective classes in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia with funded travel and accommodation
The university will award five scholarships for the 2026 intake.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Meet admission requirements for an eligible MBA or MSc programme
- Demonstrate exceptional academic merit

Final decisions are made by a selection committee chaired by senior university representatives, with recommendations shared with the Charles Huang Foundation before final approval.
