Funding Details

Each selected applicant can receive:

  • Up to €500 per fellowship

    • Travel costs such as flights or trains
    • Accommodation and subsistence during the activity

If total costs are higher than €500, the remaining amount must be covered by the applicant or their institution.

Eligible Applicants

To apply, candidates must meet all conditions below:

Academic stage

  • PhD students
  • Postdoctoral researchers (within 5 years of PhD completion)
  • Research technicians (within 7 years of last degree)

Institutional requirement

  • Must be affiliated with a EuroMarine member institution

Activity requirement

  • Must already have an accepted place in a training course, workshop, or conference

Timing

  • The selected activity must take place between 1 July 2026 and 1 June 2027

Selection Process

Applications are evaluated by the OYSTER early career research group, which is part of the EuroMarine network.

Evaluation is based on:

  • Relevance of the activity to marine research
  • Career development impact
  • Scientific quality and motivation
  • Potential for knowledge sharing after participation

Each application is reviewed by at least three evaluators before final selection.
