Eligibility Criteria of Sydney International Undergraduate Scholarship

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be an international student under the Higher Education Support Act 2003.
  • Apply for, but have not yet commenced, an eligible single undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney.
  • Enroll as a full-time student.
  • Be applying for my first undergraduate degree at the University.
  • Have completed secondary school or a University of Sydney recognised foundation program.
  • Have not previously undertaken tertiary studies, except extension studies completed as part of a Year 12 program.

Applicants are not eligible if they:

  • Are Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or dual citizens with Australian nationality.
  • Are commencing a second degree at the University of Sydney.
  • Apply for combined degrees with a postgraduate component.
  • Apply for the Bachelor of Arts (Dual Degree, Sciences Po, France).
  • Apply for the Bachelor of Economics (Dual Degree, Sciences Po, France).

Selection Criteria of the Sydney International Undergraduate Scholarship

The University of Sydney awards the scholarship through a competitive selection process. Eligible applicants are assessed based on:

  • Academic merit demonstrated in their admission application
  • Completion of the required online scholarship application form
  • Diversity of nationality
  • Diversity of intended undergraduate degrees

  • Complete their degree within the published full-time duration.

Scholarship Conditions

  • Deferral or suspension of the scholarship is not permitted.

When Can the Scholarship Be Terminated?

The University may terminate the scholarship if a recipient:

  • Withdraws from their eligible degree.
  • Fails to enrol.
  • Changes to domestic student status.
  • Changes nationality.
  • Begins part-time study.
  • Does not maintain satisfactory academic performance.
  • Does not return after approved leave.
  • Receives another commencing student scholarship, except the Sydney International Student Award.
  • Provides false or misleading information during the application process.
  • Is found guilty of serious misconduct.

In some cases, the University may also require recipients to repay scholarship funds already received.

How to Apply

Applicants should first apply for an eligible undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney and submit all required admission documents.
