About Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship 2027

The Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship is designed to support young professionals who are working on clean energy and climate change issues across emerging and developing countries. Every year, the program selects 16 Climate Fellows from different regions of the Global South, including Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

The fellowship provides participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas with Yale faculty members, policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, journalists, and climate experts. Fellows also work with professionals from different sectors and build long-term international partnerships.

Program Schedule

The fellowship consists of three main parts over five months.

Yale Orientation

  • Dates: 1 February to 5 February 2027
  • Location: Yale University, United States

Remote Learning

Between March and June 2027, fellows will participate in:

  • Six online Learning Journeys held on Wednesdays at 9:00 AM Eastern Time
  • Collaborative group projects with other fellows

Paris Closing Week

  • Dates: 14 June to 18 June 2027
  • Location: Paris, France

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be from an emerging or developing country in the Global South
  • Have between five and ten years of professional experience
  • Demonstrate achievements in clean energy, climate change, or related fields
  • Show strong leadership potential
  • Be fluent in English
  • Be available to attend all online and in-person program activities

There is no minimum or maximum age requirement. However, the fellowship is intended for professionals who are still developing their leadership careers.
