The University of Twente Scholarship (UTS) 2027 is now open for international students who want to pursue a master’s degree in the Netherlands. The scholarship is offered by the University of Twente to outstanding students from non-EU/EEA countries enrolling in eligible master’s programmes beginning in September 2027.
The University of Twente Scholarship provides financial support ranging from €3,000 to €22,000 for one academic year. Students admitted to eligible two-year master’s programmes may also receive funding for the second year if they meet the university’s academic progress requirements.

Financial Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
- Scholarship funding between €3,000 and €22,000 for the first year.
- Eligible students enrolled in two-year master’s programmes may receive the same amount for the second year, subject to satisfactory academic performance.
- The scholarship is intended to help cover study-related expenses. Funds are paid directly to the student and are not automatically used to pay tuition fees or other university charges.

Second-Year Scholarship Requirements
Students enrolled in a two-year master’s programme can receive funding for the second year if they:
- Achieve an average grade of at least 7 out of 10 by the end of the third quarter of the first year.
- Earn at least 50% of the required European Credits (ECTS) by the end of the third quarter.
Additional Scholarship Opportunity
Students applying for programmes starting in September 2027 may also be considered for the Kipaji Scholarship.
Applicants must first apply for the University of Twente Scholarship to become eligible. Those interested should indicate this in their scholarship motivation and ensure they meet the additional requirements of the Kipaji Scholarship programme.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the University of Twente Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of a non-EU/EEA country.
- Apply for an eligible master’s programme beginning in September 2027.
- Receive a conditional or unconditional admission letter from the University of Twente before applying for the scholarship.
- Have a valid University of Twente student number.
- Not have previously graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme at the University of Twente.
- Meet Dutch visa requirements, where applicable.
- Meet the English language requirement of:
- IELTS Academic overall score of 6.5 with at least 6.0 in Speaking, or
- TOEFL iBT overall score of 90 with at least 20 in Speaking.
- Not be eligible for a Dutch student loan.
- Rank among the top 5 to 10 percent of their graduating class at their previous university.
Who Is Not Eligible?
The scholarship is not available for:
- Dutch students.
- Current University of Twente students.
- EU/EEA students.
- Students applying for master’s programmes offered by the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC).
- Students enrolled in a pre-master’s programme.
- Students paying the Dutch statutory tuition fee, including certain non-EU students with qualifying Dutch residence permits.
Applicants should also ensure they can cover the remaining study and living expenses, as the University of Twente Scholarship is not a full scholarship.

Applicants can receive only one University of Twente scholarship.

The University of Twente Scholarship application is separate from the university admission application. Receiving admission to a master’s programme does not automatically mean you have applied for the scholarship. Students must complete both application processes separately.
