Internship Responsibilities

The Sustainability Trainee will support the IOC Sustainability team across a wide range of environmental and sustainability projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with projects related to climate action and climate adaptation.
  • Support biodiversity, sustainable procurement, and circular economy initiatives.
  • Help organize meetings and sustainability events with International Federations and National Olympic Committees.
  • Support collaboration with commercial partners and international organizations, including UNEP, IUCN, and UNFCCC.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, dashboards, and sustainability updates.
  • Assist with the IOC Climate Action Awards.
  • Support the Athlete Sustainability Ambassador Programme.
  • Contribute to cross-functional sustainability projects across the Olympic Games Department.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in sustainability, sustainable development, or a related discipline.
  • Be a recent graduate.
  • Have approximately one year of professional experience related to sustainability.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of French or another language is considered an advantage.
  • Have strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Knowledge of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is desirable.
