Applications for the 2026 Erasmus Mundus MIPDaL Scholarship are now open for all international students. The MIPDaL programme is a two-year, full-time Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s degree designed to provide advanced training in intellectual property (IP) and data law.
It is offered by a consortium of six (primary) European universities, enabling students to study in two different countries within the consortium and receive a dual degree (from the two institutions attended).
The core focus is on the intersection of IP and data law, preparing graduates for international careers in legal, regulatory, business, and technology environments.

Study Tracks of the MIPDaL Scholarship
Students choose one of three specialisation tracks within the programme:
- IT & Data Law: Focus on data protection, technology law, and digital regulation.
- Creative Industries: Intersection of IP law and creative/media sectors (copyright, licensing, entertainment).
- Industrial Property Law: Emphasis on patents, designs, trademarks, and industrial innovation.
When applying, you select the track you intend to follow; the second semester/host institution for you will depend on that track.

Programme Structure of the MIPDaL Scholarship
- Mobility: Students start in early September (induction week mid-September). The first semester runs from September to approximately January. Second semester from January until early September (or up to thesis submission) at the second partner institution.
- First semester: foundational courses in IP & data law, modules like patent law, trademark & design law, IT law, copyright law.
- Second semester: specialisation courses aligned with your chosen track at partner institutions designated for that track. May include an internship or practice-based component (especially for certain partners like UC3M).
- Culmination: a Master’s thesis (in English, except in some cases where a French or Spanish option exists) supervised by the second institution.

Eligibility Requirements for the MIPDaL Erasmus Mundus Scholarship
Key eligibility criteria include:
- You must hold (or be about to complete) a job-qualifying first degree (typically in law, or a related discipline with substantial law content), equivalent to at least 240 ECTS (or a four-year bachelor’s) in the country where you studied.
- If you have not yet fully completed your degree at application time, you may still apply if you have achieved at least 80% of the required credits (and proof thereof).
- You must be among the top students in your class (strong academic performance).
- Language proficiency: For English‐language delivery: C1 level (in exceptional cases B2) according to CEFR. For the French track (if you pick studies at Strasbourg): French C1. Spanish track (if at UC3M): Spanish B2.
- Mobility rule: The two countries where you study must both be different from your country of residence at the time of enrolment.

How to Apply for the Erasmus Mundus MIPDaL Scholarship
- The application portal opens (the 2026/28 intake applications opened on 1 October 2025).
- Select your preferred track, upload the required documents, and choose whether you are applying for a scholarship (if you are) via the application form.
- Application deadlines: For scholarship applicants/early birds: 15 January of the intake year. For general applicants: 15 March. Late applications may be accepted (depending on the decision) until mid-June.
- Once selected, you will receive an offer, and then you will enrol at the two partner universities as per the mobility plan. Further enrollment documents (such as a passport and visa) may be required.
