The DAAD Re-invitation Programme for Former Scholarship Holders 2027 is now open for applications from former DAAD scholarship recipients who want to return to Germany for research or professional work. The programme is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It supports short-term research and working visits at universities, research institutes, and selected organizations in Germany.

The DAAD scholarship is available to former recipients of DAAD research grants or study scholarships who received funding for more than six months. Former East German scholarship holders who studied in Germany for at least one year are also eligible to apply. The programme provides funding for research projects at state or state-recognized universities and non-university research institutes. Professionals working outside academia may also receive funding for working visits at organizations in business, administration, culture, or media.

The Germany scholarship provides funding for one to three months. Successful applicants receive a monthly stipend, travel support, and health insurance arrangements. Depending on their academic position, assistant teachers, assistant professors, and lecturers receive €2,000 per month, while professors receive €2,150 per month. Professionals outside academia receive financial support based on their qualifications. Funding may also include additional support for applicants with disabilities or chronic illnesses, where approved.

The DAAD Re-invitation Programme aims to strengthen long-term academic and professional cooperation between Germany and former DAAD scholars worldwide. Participants return to Germany to continue research collaborations, develop new projects, strengthen institutional partnerships, and maintain active connections within DAAD’s international alumni network. Research or professional visits may take place at one or several host institutions, depending on the proposed project.
