The Czech Republic Government Scholarships 2027/28 are expected to open for international students from selected developing countries. The scholarships are offered by the Government of the Czech Republic as part of its foreign development cooperation programme and support study at public universities in Czechia.

The programme is implemented by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS). The next call for applications for the 2027/28 academic year is expected in summer 2026. The exact opening date and deadline will be announced in the official call.

Czech Government Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship is designed to support students during their studies at Czech public higher education institutions.

Depending on the programme and applicable scholarship rules, support can include:

A preparatory Czech language course for eligible Czech-taught programmes

Available Study Programmes

The Czech Government Scholarship does not cover every programme offered by Czech universities. Applicants must select a programme from the official list of eligible fields.

For Czech-language studies, the previous call included:

Selected Bachelor’s programmes for applicants from Georgia
Selected follow-up Master’s programmes for applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine and Belarus
A one-year Czech language and professional preparation course

For English-language studies, the scholarship covered:

Selected two-year follow-up Master’s programmes
Selected three- to four-year Doctoral programmes

Applicants should carefully check the eligible programme list for the 2027/28 call because available fields may differ from the previous intake.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy both the government scholarship requirements and the admission requirements of the selected Czech university.

Generally, applicants must:

Be citizens of an eligible country
Meet the required academic qualification
Apply for an eligible study programme
Meet the admission requirements of the selected university
Complete the required online application
Complete the English language test when applying for an English-taught scholarship
Follow the document and application requirements stated in the official call
For Bachelor’s study, applicants need secondary education equivalent to Czech secondary education with a school-leaving examination.
For follow-up Master’s study, applicants need a completed Bachelor’s degree.
For Doctoral study, applicants need a completed Master’s degree.

Citizens of the Czech Republic, EU citizens, and foreign nationals with permanent residence in Czechia are not eligible for these development scholarships.
