How Mitacs Selects Globalink Research Interns

Mitacs assesses applications using several factors. These include the applicant’s eligibility, cumulative GPA, statement of interest, reference letter, and the match between the student’s research interests and experience and the selected project or professor. Incomplete applications are not assessed.

Submitting an application or meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee an internship placement. Students are matched with projects based on the available research opportunities and the suitability of their academic and research profiles.

Where Will the Mitacs Internship Take Place?

Selected students complete their research internships at participating Canadian academic institutions. The program is available at more than 70 academic institutions across Canada.

The internship is an in-person program. Mitacs states that virtual or hybrid arrangements are not permitted for Globalink Research Internship placements.
