The University of Manchester Equity and Merit Scholarships 2027 are now open for applications in the United Kingdom. Who Can Apply for the Manchester Scholarship?
The University of Manchester Equity and Merit Scholarships are open to resident citizens of:
- Ethiopia
- Malawi
- Rwanda
- Tanzania
- Uganda
- Zimbabwe
Applicants must meet the university’s academic, professional and other eligibility requirements.
To apply, candidates must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution with the required academic grade.
- Have at least two years of professional experience related to their chosen field of study. Unpaid internships and voluntary work do not count.
- Be committed to returning to their home country after completing their studies.
- Demonstrate how their studies could contribute to their career and wider community.
- Have not previously studied outside Africa. Training lasting six months or less does not count under this requirement.

- Health sciences
- Global development
- Education
- Law
- Computer science and artificial intelligence
Eligible programmes include fields such as artificial intelligence, advanced computer science, machine learning, renewable energy and clean technology, global development, climate change, international disaster management and law.

The application process starts with the Equity and Merit Scholarship application. For September 2027 entry, the application window is:
1 August 2026 to 31 August 2026
Applicants can use the official scholarship application form during this period.
If an applicant meets the initial eligibility requirements, the university will invite them to apply for their selected master’s programme. Applicants must also provide a recognised English language qualification that meets the requirements of their chosen course.
An unconditional offer for the selected master’s programme is required before an applicant can be shortlisted for the scholarship.
