The Sir Harry Evans Global Fellowship 2027 is now open for applications. This international journalism fellowship allows early-career reporters and investigative researchers to work with Reuters and Durham University for nine months. The fellowship is designed for journalists who want to strengthen their investigative reporting skills while working inside a professional newsroom environment.

Durham University hosts the fellowship in partnership with Reuters, one of the world’s leading news organizations. Selected fellows will work on an investigative journalism project while receiving mentorship from Reuters editors and access to Durham University’s academic resources. Fellows may be placed in Reuters newsrooms located in London, New York, Sydney, or Toronto.

This is a paid fellowship program that offers a monthly salary, living stipend, and travel support. Applicants from all countries can apply. The program is open to journalists with two to five years of professional experience. Professionals working in related investigative fields such as documentary production, research, and nonfiction reporting may also be considered.

The fellowship honors the legacy of Sir Harry Evans, a well-known British journalist and editor known for investigative reporting and fact-based journalism. Previous fellows have gone on to work on internationally recognized reporting projects, including Pulitzer Prize-winning investigations.

Eligibility Criteria for the Sir Harry Evans Global Fellowship 2027

To apply for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Applicants should have between 2 and 5 years of professional journalism experience
Journalists from any country are eligible to apply
Professionals involved in investigative storytelling, documentary work, nonfiction research, or related reporting fields may also be considered
Applicants must be able to work on a long-form investigative journalism project
Candidates should meet the immigration and visa requirements for their assigned placement location

Fellowship Placement and Research Experience

The selected fellow will complete the program from within a Reuters newsroom located in one of four cities:

Sydney
Toronto

During the fellowship, participants will work closely with Reuters editors and connect with researchers and academics at Durham University. Fellows will also present their work and experiences through a public seminar at the university.
