Climate change is no longer a distant threat. It is already reshaping lives, economies, and ecosystems across the world. From extreme heatwaves and floods to food insecurity and water shortages, communities are facing growing climate risks. In response to this global challenge, the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) has officially opened applications for the ICYF Young Climate Volunteers Camp 2026, a flagship youth program focused on climate action, resilience, and community-based solutions.

The camp will take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, in April 2026, and aims to empower young people from OIC Member and Observer Countries with practical skills, leadership training, and hands-on experience in climate resilience. Applications are open until 15 February 2026.

What Is the ICYF Young Climate Volunteers Camp 2026?

The ICYF Young Climate Volunteers Camp 2026 is a project-based training program designed to prepare youth to respond effectively to climate-related challenges at the local and regional level. Organized by ICYF in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye, the camp focuses on turning climate awareness into real-world action.

Under the theme “Empowering Youth for Climate Action to Build Climate-Resilient Communities,” participants will engage in workshops, field activities, and collaborative projects that address climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and environmental sustainability.

Why This Camp Matters for Youth in OIC Countries

According to the 2023 SESRIC OIC Environment Report, many OIC countries are among the most vulnerable to climate change while also being the least prepared to handle its impacts. More than half of OIC Member States face above-average climate vulnerability, and nearly 70 percent lack sufficient climate preparedness.

This camp directly addresses that gap by:

  • Strengthening youth-led climate resilience initiatives
  • Encouraging community-based climate solutions
  • Building leadership capacity among young volunteers
  • Translating global climate challenges into local action

ICYF recognizes young people as key drivers of change and places them at the center of climate adaptation efforts.
