Fellowship Details

  • Deadline: 28 February 2026 (CET, 24:00)
  • Duration: 6 months (1 October 2026 – 31 March 2027)
  • Monthly Allowance: €3,000 (pre-tax), covering living expenses, rent, and insurance
  • Travel Support: Partial reimbursement for arrival and departure
  • Eligibility:
    • PhD completed in 2020 or later
    • Up to six years of postdoctoral experience
    • Open to international researchers (German nationals must work at an international institute)
    • Individual applications only

Fellows will receive office space, technical support, library access, and assistance with events and research management.

What Fellows Are Expected to Do

KWI encourages fellows to dedicate their time to research aligned with its interdisciplinary agenda. Fellows may:

  • Finish a book or a special issue
  • Finalize a research proposal
  • Build collaborations with UA Ruhr universities
  • Participate in lectures, reading groups, conferences, and the KWI Blog

Fellows are expected to be on-site at least three days a week, but teaching is not required. Publications from the fellowship must acknowledge KWI.
