Eligibility Criteria for Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship at Tsukuba University, Japan:

You can apply if you:

  1. Are enrolled at the University of Tsukuba as of April 2026.
  2. Meet one of these conditions:
    • You’re in your 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate program as of April 2025.
    • You’re in your 5th or 6th year if you’re in the School of Medicine and Medical Science.
    • You’re in the 1st or 2nd year of a master’s program as of April 2026.
    • You’re in the 2nd or 3rd year of a doctoral program as of April 2026 (or 4th or 5th year if in a 4-year or 5-year doctoral program).
  3. Hold a “Student” residence card in Japan.
  4. Were born on or after April 2, 1981 (meaning you are under 45 years old as of April 1, 2026).
  5. Can communicate in Japanese or are willing to learn and use Japanese.

You Are Not Eligible to Apply If:

  1. You will take a leave of absence at any time between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
  2. You are scheduled to receive another scholarship or allowance (including life support subsidies) during this period.
  3. You will continue receiving your current scholarship between April 1, 202,6, and March 31, 2027.
  4. You already hold a doctoral degree.
  5. You will graduate in August or September 2026.
    • This also applies if you enroll in AY2026 and study for less than one year.

Responsibilities

If selected, you will be expected to:

  1. Attend regular meetings at least once a month (sometimes more, depending on the schedule).
  2. Submit two reports per year about your activities, progress, or experiences.
  3. Engage with Rotarians by:
    • Giving speeches at meetings.
    • Participating in Sewa Club activities or other local events.
