Eligibility and Application Process
All first-year, degree-seeking applicants can be considered for Richmond Scholars. The scholarship is automatically considered through the admission application, so no separate scholarship application is required. Applicants must submit their complete admission application by December 1.
For students entering in 2027, the University of Richmond is test-optional. Applicants may choose whether to submit SAT or ACT scores for admission review. Students who submit scores can have their SAT or ACT superscored.
International students can also compete for university-funded merit scholarships. Students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents and need financial aid should review Richmond’s separate financial aid requirements, including the Certification of Financial Responsibility and CSS Profile requirements.
Richmond Scholars Program 2027 Timeline
- December 1: Deadline to submit the complete University of Richmond admission application for Richmond Scholars consideration.
- By February 1: Finalists are notified through the Spider Portal.
- Mid-February: Richmond Scholars finalists participate in interviews with a faculty selection committee via Zoom.
- By March 1: Final selection of Richmond Scholars is completed.
