Successful scholars can receive several financial benefits during their master’s studies.

The scholarship provides:

• Full admission fee
• Full tuition fees
• Monthly subsistence allowance of 144,000 Japanese yen, including housing
• Books and instructional materials
• Medical insurance
• Economy-class airfare between the student’s home country and APU at the beginning and end of the program

The monthly allowance is subject to change. APU states that the initial scholarship period is one year, with an extension to a second year possible depending on the student’s academic performance.

Who Can Apply for the Asia Pacific University ADB Scholarship 2027?

The Asia Pacific University ADB Scholarship 2027 is open to nationals of eligible ADB borrowing member countries and Japanese ODA scholarship-eligible countries.

For the APU scholarship, applicants must generally:

• Be a national of an eligible ADB borrowing member country
• Not hold dual citizenship of a developed country
• Be living and working in their home country
• Have at least two years of full-time work experience after completing a bachelor’s degree
• Have strong English communication skills
• Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application
• Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a strong academic record
• Gain admission to an approved master’s course
• Not already be enrolled in a graduate degree program
• Not be applying for a second master’s degree
• Agree to return to their home country and work there for at least two years after completing the program

APU also lists family and individual income limits of US$50,000 and US$25,000 per year, respectively. Selected scholarship candidates may be required to provide an income certificate.

APU specifically lists the following employment document:

• Certificate of Employment
  • Must be issued on the company’s official letterhead or include its logo.
  • Must be signed by an authorized signatory.
  • Must show the start and end dates of employment.
  • Must include the applicant’s position.
  • Must state the monthly or annual income.
  • If income is stated in local currency, applicants must complete the USD Conversion Form and submit it together with the employment certificate.
  • If the current employment period is less than two years, applicants must also submit a Certificate of Employment from their previous company.
