Financial Benefits
Eligible interns who are not receiving financial support from another source, such as a university, government, or sponsoring organization, may receive:
- A monthly stipend to help cover living expenses.
- The stipend amount is determined based on the agreed work location.
- Payments are generally made in the local currency at the end of each month.
Eligibility Criteria of UNFPA Global Internship
Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:
- Be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or equivalent program and have completed at least one academic year.
- Be enrolled in a master’s degree or higher postgraduate program.
- Have graduated within the last year and be able to begin the internship within one year of graduation.
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee program where the internship forms part of the curriculum.
Applicants must also:
- Demonstrate an interest in international development.
- Have written and spoken proficiency in English or French and be fluent in the official language used by the hiring UNFPA office (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish).
- Be able to work effectively in multicultural environments.
Ineligible Applicants
Applicants are not eligible if their father, mother, son, daughter, brother, or sister is a UNFPA staff member.
