What is the ASEF Youth Summit 2026?
The ASEF Youth Summit 2026 is part of the Asia-Europe Science and Technology Diplomacy Initiative for Young Professionals. The programme combines online learning with an in-person summit designed to strengthen cooperation between Asian and European countries in science and technology diplomacy.
The online training programme will take place from 22 July to 8 October 2026. Participants will attend webinars, workshops, and group discussions led by experts in science diplomacy and international relations.
Around 100 to 120 participants will join the online phase. From this group, approximately 40 participants will be selected to attend the Youth Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 19 to 24 October 2026.
During the summit, delegates will prepare and present a declaration on youth perspectives in Asia-Europe science diplomacy cooperation to senior policymakers and stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the ASEF Youth Summit 2026, applicants must:
- Be citizens of eligible Asian or European countries
- Be 35 years old or younger
- Have strong English communication skills
- Currently working in science, research management, diplomacy, innovation, or international relations
Eligible applicants include:
- Research and Science Managers from universities and research institutions
- Diplomats and Government Officials involved in science and technology cooperation
Applicants from around the world are eligible for the programme. Undergraduate students and doctoral students are not eligible to apply.
ASEF Youth Summit Indonesia 2026 Schedule
The online training includes two weekly sessions:
- Tuesdays: 08:00–09:30 UTC
- Thursdays: 08:00–10:00 UTC
Participants must also attend:
- Welcome Session on 22 July 2026
- Networking Session on 20 August 2026
The organisers estimate an average commitment of around 3.5 hours per week during the training period.
