Course Curriculum and Mobility

The curriculum is designed to ensure that each semester contributes to both specialist and cumulative learning across modules.

Semesters 1‑3 (standard core structure):

  • Archives and Artistic Creation I/II/III (10 ECTS each semester)
  • Film Archive and Heritage I/II/III (5 ECTS each)
  • European Screen Studies I/II/III (5 ECTS each)
  • Film Data Analytics and Management I/II/III (5 ECTS each)
  • Research Methodologies in Film Heritage, History and Cultures I/II/III (5 ECTS each)

Semester 4:

  • FilmMemory Project (30 ECTS) – this is the graduation project in which students apply their skills to a substantial piece of creative/research work.

The curriculum emphasises the link between theory and practice: from media heritage and archives to creative production (such as audio‑visual essays, documentaries, and data analysis). The course units build upon each other (vertical integration) and link across semesters (horizontal integration), allowing learning to accumulate.

The mobility pattern:

  • Semester 1: Belgium
  • Semester 2: Portugal
  • Semester 3: Ireland
  • Semester 4: distributed over Belgium, Portugal, Ireland or Estonia.
