Fellows selected for this programme receive:

• A 24-month employment contract, extendable to 36 months
• Monthly stipend of CHF 6,911 – 7,326 (net of tax)
• Comprehensive health insurance for self, spouse, and children
• Membership in the CERN Pension Fund
• Allowances depending on personal situation (installation grant, family/child/infant allowance)
• Travel expenses to and from Geneva
• Paid leave of 2.5 days per month

Eligibility Criteria of CERN Research Fellowship

Applicants must:

• Be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member States (limited positions open for non-Member States via a special programme)
• Hold a PhD in theoretical physics (or have a defense scheduled before the start date)
• Have less than 6 years of research experience after completion of PhD
• Not a CERN staff member
